No one spoke as the train descended beneath the lake.

Lucas Romaine sat in silence, his reflection faint in the dark glass across from him. The men around him carried themselves with quiet authority—unquestioned, unchallenged. The kind of men who didn't ask for power.

Across from him, Marco didn't bother hiding his contempt.
Lucas felt it without looking up.
You don't belong here.
For a moment, he wasn't sure he disagreed.
The train slowed.
A soft hiss broke the silence as the doors opened.
They stepped out into a corridor that felt less like architecture and more like something engineered—precise, controlled, absolute.
Even the air felt different.
A pair of guards stood ahead, motionless.
“Only family may proceed.”
The words landed heavier than expected.
Lucas hesitated—just for a moment.
